You & Your Weight Loss

Before I started losing weight, I was not content with who I was. I had to learn to love me for myself, then I could begin to make changes that led to my weight loss.

As you make progress, a great measure of how far you have come is how you feel in your skin. Where I use to think of myself as ugly, I now see beauty. Where I use to think of myself as fat, I see a work in progress. Where I use to see myself as useless, I see my God given talents and abilities. Where I use to see failure, I now see learning and growing.

Are you seeing your weight loss? Are you seeing yourself differently? Are you becoming content with who you are?

A Slow Suicide

During an online discussion, one participant brought up the topic of Suicide. I doubt the topic conjurers up pleasant thoughts. For me, a suicide is an avoidable tragedy that brings tremendous grief.

Yet, the discussion became how all of us that are overweight were committing a slow suicide. We are each alone responsible for the food we eat. We are responsible for the health problems the sugars and fat cause.

Excess weight can cause heart disease, strokes, and so much more. In addition, being over weight can make us miss out on our life.

Mothers and fathers miss out on playing with their children. Grandparents miss out on holding their grandchildren. Many miss out of adventures they are afraid to take. We miss out on the cute clothes and a feeling of self-confidence.

Yes, some shorten their days. I have lost more than one friend to the health problems associated with obesity. One such friend had to have heart surgery, but did not make it through. I still miss my friend.

Don’t leave your family grieving your loss too soon. Take back your health and stop the path towards a slow suicide! Choose life. Enjoy your life to its fullest with optimal health. Set a weight loss goal, if not for you do it for your family.  We can help you turn things around.

Lose Weight and Keep It Off

The statistics aren’t pretty. According to research, more than 2/3 of Americans are overweight or obese. Many of these people go on a diet and lose the weight, yet, according to a research study done by the University of California in Los Angal0s, 2/3 of those people will gain all of the weight back plus more!

Those are not good statistics, yet there is one that is in your favor. If  you seek the support you need through a personal weight loss coach, you are ten times more likely to lose the weight and keep it off.

So, what are you waiting for? WAVES, along with its sponsors offer free weight loss coaching and support to clients! For  a complete meal program checkout Waves take shape program or my herbal plan. Let us help you write your success story.

Love Handles

How many people really love their love handles? No one I know of? The good news is that you donot have to keep them.

But, be prepared, you need to put forth the effort to eliminate them. Doing an ab routine 5-6 times per week is a great way to kiss those love handles goodbye. These workout routines only has to take a few minutes of your time each day.

Here are just a few exercises to help you get started:

Dumbbell Side Bends: Hold a dumbbell in both hands. Stand with feet hip width apart. Slowly bend the torso toward one side and then stand again. Repeat 15-30 times on each side.

Dumbbell Back Bends: Same as above, except bend slightly toward the back and touch the dumbbell to the back of the knee.

Crunches: Instead of the classic crunch, try elbow to knees. Crunches with one leg crossed over the other. The twist in the torso will help eliminate those handles of love.

Floor Swim: Lie on your stomach with your hands and feet stretched out straight. then raise opposite arms and legs alternating pattern in a swim- like motion.

Of course, to fully eliminate love handles, you must make full WAVES; drink your water, keep a positive attitude, eat right, exercise regularly, and seek support. Of course, watching your sodium intake is another great tip. So, love your love handles enough to leave them behind.

Love Those Vegetables

With love in the air everywhere this week, it is time to send some towards vegetables! Take a stroll through your super markets produce section. Take a good look at all of the colors and textures.

Enjoy the fragrance of those foods. Which ones do you love? Can you add just one more serving of a vegetable to your diet?

As you eat each vegetable this week, really study it. Think about all of the goodness it is offering your body. Take a moment to research your favorite one and find out all of the beneficial vitamins and minerals it gives your body. The fiber it adds to your diet. The flavor it adds. Yes, you may find even more reasons to love the veggies!

Love Yourself

There are many reasons we pack on the pounds. These reasons range from boredom to love of food. Good food, food whose flavor tickles the taste buds and bring complete satiety with its texture, temperature, and aroma can be quite lovable.

However, you have to make sure you love yourself and more importantly love God above and beyond any food. Now, before you baulk at what I have to say, hear me out.

Putting food above God is a common sin and not a new one. God named this sin gluttony. Anyone that has ever eaten more than their body needed is guilty of this sin.

The wonderful news is that as soon as we accepted Christ as our savior, we were forgiven for our sins. God,s grace continues to cover our sins. All we have to do is confess our sins one to another and repent. Isn’t that amazing love!

Water

Water is essential to our health, yet many of us don,t like it. Give water a chance. Nothing quenches thirst like water.

If you find water taste better, try it with a slice of lemon, lime, orange, or cucumber. These add just a hint of flavor, while still giving you all of the benefits of drinking water.

Yes, learn to love water and you will reap the benefits of better health and better weight loss!

A Measure of Love

As we celebrate love this week, I have to talk about the greatest love of all. The love Jesus has for you is without measure. There is no end to God’s love for us.

His love was great enough to send His only begotten son to die on a cross just to cover your sins and my sins. Yes, his love is great enough to forgive every sin we have committed. Every sin we have thought, said, or committed. When those sins are are forgiven, they are gone, forgotten.

No matter how much we love someone else, we can not out love God. When I had children of mu own, I got a greater understanding of how deep God’s love is. My children bring me such love and I know I would do anything for them.

Yet, it is hard to imagine the love that God has for all of us. I could not give up one of my children; let them die a brutal death just to save someone else. Yes, God’s love for us is without measure, without limit. Do you know God’s love for you?

Variety

Love is in the air everywhere this week. Yet, many “dieters” hate the food they eat. Feeling tortured with every bite they eat and deprived as others enjoy their meals is not the way to lose weight.

Instead, find foods you love that are healthy for you! Yes, these foods do exist.

I still love and enjoy pizza. Now, I just choose my healthy pizza recipe I can make in minutes at home. I still love spaghetti, but now I make it with whole wheat noodles, sauce made at home frome crushed tomatoes and Tastefully Simple’s Mama Mia spices (1 tbsp. per can of crushed tomatoes). I also add my own meatballs made with extra lean ground turkey and spices such as fennel seeds, oregano, garlic, and others to taste.

Are you hungry yet? How about an omelet made with spinach and feta cheese? Frozen yogurt with fresh fruit?

Yes, there are thousands of healthy food options that are tasty. They will satisfy your hunger and taste buds too while getting you to your goal.

So, add variety, add spice, and by all means, find healthy foods you like.

Support

There are few things in life that makes us feel as loved as being supported. Support comes in many forms. Sometimes it is a pat on the back when we have met a goal. It can also be a shoulder to lean on when we are discouraged. At other times, it is the sound of encouraging words spoken tn a timely manner.

Support may come in many forms, but getting support always has the effect of making us feel loved. getting the support we need means admitting we need it. Yes, let those that love you know your goals and how they can show their support.

It may be to go for a walk with you at lunch and skip desert. It may be to not offer you seconds at the next get together. Whatever it is, give them the chance by sharing your goals.

And don’t forget to support others too. This is the time of year to share the love!
